Overview

In this high volume facility, the Operations Manager is responsible to ensure that enthusiastic, courteous and safe quality of service is provided to all customers. Additionally, the successful candidate will strive to create a venue staffed by knowledgeable, helpful, and cheerful staff who are motivated to exceed guest satisfaction and operating revenue targets.

Responsibilities

Create annual and semi-annual business plans, strategies and controls including cost-benefit analysis of equipment, new initiatives, revenue maximization, management and supervisory skill assessment. Recruit, hire, train, schedule and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of all Aquatics, Cleaning, Laundry, Guest Service and Food and Beverage staff focused toward continuous personal development and success. Counseling team members, ensuring all operating equipment and control standards and systems are used; generating applicable departmental reports. Manage projects as needed. Supervise the Aquatics, Cleaning, Laundry, Guest Service and Food and Beverage areas to ensure that operations are effectively, safely and efficiently carried out, while continually looking for ways to improve Fallsview Indoor Waterpark operations in order to increase revenue, decrease cost and provide exceptional customer service.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead/supervise a team of operating staff
  • Demonstrate the ability to set high performance standards/ targets for each aspect of the operation and demonstrates urgency to achieve critical goals and objectives
  • Focuses and develops all staff on key objectives to the best of their personal capabilities
  • Directs staff in an efficient and forthright manner
  • Demonstrate competency in general accounting, basic mathematics and report-writing
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Demonstrate personal involvement and supervision to ensure the workplace is safe for all guests and staff
  • Working knowledge of computerized Point of Sales system and knowledge of micros preferred
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain portion controls and quality standards
  • Knowledge and conversational ability to train staff to effortlessly provide exceptional guest experiences
  • Train and correct staff, as required, in order to ensure all staff operate at a consistent level of performance
  • Ability to follow controls and cash balancing procedures
  • Good judgment when interviewing and carrying out reference checks for potential new employees
  • Will be able to fairly and accurately complete team performance evaluations and reviews
  • Demonstrate responsibility in handling and responding to guest complaints
  • Ability to carry out and assist with month end checklist, inventory counts and submissions
  • Thorough knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Ability to quickly respond to changing work volume with high-energy level and speed
  • Smart Serve certified preferred
  • Familiar with Ontario pool regulations; Occupational health and Safety regulations; Employment standards; WHIMIS and TSSA regulations preferred
  • Safe food handler certification preferred
  • Must be able to work all shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Graduate of a university/college in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Hospitality or related field, with five years of experience in management and staff supervision or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • NLS Instructor/Examiner, Standard First-aid and CPR Instructor/Examiner and other aquatics qualifications preferred
