Reporting to the VP of Sales, the Sales Manager – Tour and Travel is responsible for revenue generation. This includes sales planning (including an annual sales plan) prospecting, soliciting, negotiating, closing and reporting for group and FIT organizations for tour room nights, food and beverage, and other resort amenities and services. This includes organizing and hosting site inspections and FAM tours at the Resort; international travel, as appropriate for key trade shows/sales trips, maintaining market data and group travel intelligence for the market to Canada, Ontario, and in particular, Niagara Falls. Maintain professional working relationships with related public sector tourism organizations such as OTMP, Tourism Ontario, Canadian Tourism Commission, RTO, and Niagara Falls Tourism. Ensures timely group coordination with resort operations as well as responsive and effective problem solving as required. Personal work schedule flexibility is required to meet the needs of the customer.

  • Previous related successful hotel tour sales track record.
  • Outstanding persuasive and culturally –sensitive interpersonal and communication skills in order to successfully prospect, solicit, negotiate and up-sell organizations
  • Willingness and ability to travel possibly internationally, as appropriate, for sales trade shows and sales trips for durations of up to 1 – 2 weeks if needed
  • Drive guest loyalty through excellent customer service throughout the sales process, ensuring repeated business and revenue
  • Demonstrates initiative in order to personally generate leads, proposals, and carry out sales solicitation by making personal and sales calls to achieve meeting room space and room quotas
  • Ability to think creatively to achieve quotas for the group and FIT tour and travel sector by exploring different angles (i.e. In way of Marketing, meeting with potential clients, calling prospective business etc.) to reach, entice, and draw business to Falls Avenue Resort
  • Highly developed financial /mathematical skills/aptitude necessary to create and negotiate proposals which maximize company profitability within sales parameters and customer needs.
  • Demonstrated innovative ability to meet sales targets and grow business; results oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professional composure at all times, while performing multiple tasks to meet sales quotas
  • Demonstrates understanding of the overall Niagara Falls and Ontario competitive tour and travel market – competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply demand etc. and how to sell against them.
  • Demonstrated ability to set high priorities/ standards, and demonstrates urgency to achieve critical goals and objectives
  • Ability to quickly respond to changing work volume; high -energy level/speed.
  • Good Team Player – refers business leads outside of scope to applicable team members/properties
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
